Easter Hat Parade
One of our first community events to attend after moving to western North Carolina a little over three years ago was the Dillsboro Easter Hat Parade in Spring 2021. We had fallen in love with the tiny historic town of Dillsboro on one of our last vacations to the mountains and were thrilled to find our forever home just a few miles away!
Today, we attended the 36th Annual Dillsboro Easter Hat Parade—our fourth since moving here. It was a perfect spring day in the 60s, warm, and breezy, and today’s parade brought about a nostalgic feeling of a bygone era, as residents walked the downtown blocks wearing their most creative homemade Easter hats. We saw many familiar faces and visited with a few friends. It was a perfect reminder that we’re “home” now!
Turns out, Lucia won Best Costume and Max won Tallest Hat! That was certainly a highlight of our day, but embracing our own—new—family traditions and being part of a community that aligns with the simpler life we were so desperately seeking is picture perfect!
