Home Love

It’s time. We are finally starting on a few home projects!

In the 23 years we have been married, we have lived in 11 different houses. Of those, we have painted six of them. Every room. Bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and living and dining rooms. To say we have interior painting experience is an understatement.

But of all of the times we have painted the interior of other houses, this time is vastly different.

Every other time we committed to painting and were choosing colors, we always had the idea of resale in the back of our minds. Even if there was no inkling of us moving or needing to sell our house, we still thought about it and made decisions based on that. Because no matter where we lived or how much we might have liked it, we always knew we weren’t in our forever home.

Until now.

Choosing colors this time around has been so much more fun. We have talked about colors we like, the way we want the room to feel, the way we want to use the room, the way we want the overall look to be. Brandon has scrolled through the thousands of pictures he has saved on his phone of historic homes and restorations and all his favorite wall colors. We have chosen colors because we like them, because they fit us and they fit this home.

This time, painting the walls and baseboards, fireplace mantle and door facings doesn’t feel like such a hassle. It feels like an act of love—love for this home and the beautiful life she is giving us.
