River Rafting
For three years we’ve lived here, and for three years now we’ve said we needed to go rafting. I mean, the Tuckasegee River is at the end of our street, less than a half mile from our house. We walk to it all the time, and our kids frequently swim in it every spring and summer.
But for some reason, we had not been rafting on the Tuck. Until today.
Every year on opening weekend, the Dillsboro River Company hosts an annual canned food drive benefiting the United Christian Ministries of Jackson County food bank. Yesterday, Opal shopped for a few cases of canned goods, and today we donated to the cause and took a self-guided raft on the Tuck.
Once we were on the water, we were initially a bit reluctant. What if someone falls out? What if our raft flips over? How do you get unstuck off the top of these darn rocks? (IYKYK!) But once we hit the rapids, we had the time of our lives!
By the end of our 5.5 mile rafting trip, we were hooked!! We’ve already concocted plans to get our friends and family out there as soon as we can. We inquired about their summer season hours and rates. And we may or may not be on the lookout for a used raft!
So grateful for this incredible community we now get to call home and for the many wonderful people we’re so privileged to meet each and every day. This place is truly like no other and it’s a dream to be able to live out this Unbinded Life in the most beautiful place we’ve ever known!
