Family Vision Boards

I knew I would be offering a Vision Board Workshop in 2025 because it is part of my vision of how I will serve others in this upcoming year. In preparation for the workshop, I wanted to go ahead and create my own vision and Brandon said he would like to do that with me.

The more we talked about it, the more we wanted to share this activity with our kids, too! Knowing we would all be together over the Thanksgiving break, we told the kids—I mean, invited the kids to all join in.

While we have created family bucket lists before, this was the first time we have all participated in a visioning activity like this. And let me tell you, it was great. There is something special about giving yourself permission, and to see your kids give themselves permission, to have no limits and to fully lean into dreaming of what could be.

We had magazines and markers, poster boards and glue. We shared our past successes and we outlined our futures. We defined the way we see ourselves and wrote out our personal values. We connected who we are today with where we want to be.

We clipped and cut, we dreamed and shared.

If you don’t think a 10-year-old knows what he wants out of life, you should just ask. In fact, he wanted to know if this was just for 2025 or could he include things beyond that timeframe. He may not be able to do everything now as a kid, but he knows the power in what lies ahead!

And that’s just it—with childlike wonder we need to know the power in what lies ahead.

What would happen if you asked yourself, “what do I want?”

What would happen if you lived out your values?

What would happen if you gave yourself permission?

What would happen if you mapped out where you want to be?

What would happen if you set goals and let go of limitations?

We believe in the power of knowing what you want and casting a vision for where you want to be. We believe in living out our lives according to God’s purpose. We believe in aligning our choices with our most deeply held values.

The truth is, we believe in ourselves, we believe in our kids, and we believe in you.

As we prepare to begin a new year, give yourself permission. Permission to dream again, to realign to your values, and to cast that vision!
