Diving In

If you’ve been following us, you know we’ve had our fair share of major life events recently. And to say we’ve been busy for the past several weeks preparing for these would be an understatement.

In the weeks leading up to Sebastian and Jordan’s wedding, these two kids pitched in to help get our house and yard rehearsal-dinner-ready in ways we can’t describe! We had a laundry list of things to do, and, day in and day out, you could find them with a pressure washer, weed eater, push mower, or rake or shovel in hand. They knew we had a seemingly insurmountable task before us, and we knew all along we wanted to repay them somehow, some way.

Well, today was that day.

We told them when we got home from church this morning, we had a surprise day planned for them. We headed to Tennessee and stopped first in Pigeon Forge to ride mountain coasters for the afternoon. Then we grabbed pizza for dinner and revealed their big surprise…

We bought tickets to attend the finals of the U.S. Olympics Diving Trials!!

You see, Lucia and Maximilian have been watching the Olympic Trials on TV for the past week. Every single day, they have faithfully tuned in to watch the diving prelims and semifinals. They know the athletes by name and have quickly developed a knack for critiquing every diver’s approach, form, and splash.

And since the Olympic Diving Trials were being held in Knoxville this year, we thought what better way to show our appreciation of them than taking them to see this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in person.

Yes, Sebastian got married, and Olivia made collegiate cheer, and Isabela is absolutely killing it at a job she loves. But we see you, little Lucia and Max. We see you, we appreciate you, and, today, we celebrate you!
