Our Forever Home

Today is the 3-year anniversary that we arrived to our forever home in the mountains of North Carolina! We left behind what feels like a past life. The former rat race. The former “busyness.” Former mindsets, beliefs, and behaviors. And more things binding us to a former, standardized way of living than we ever realized when we drove away from suburban Austin 1,000 miles away.

We left behind a lot of things (quite literally), but the closeness as a family and freedom we gained here far outweighs the stresses, burdens, and way of life we left behind.

Not that we ever need any reminders that we’ve made the best decision of our lives, but tonight’s sunset from the window of our home in Historic Webster sure doesn’t hurt!
