The best movie ever made!!

There I said it. And if you know anything about movies or fun, old-fashioned family Christmases, you know it’s true, too.

Thanks to Opal, tonight I got to see it on the big screen for the first time in 34 years! If you know me, you know I LOVE National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation! And I love Clark Griswold. It’s not just my favorite Christmas movie, it’s my favorite movie of all time. I’ve probably been called Clark Griswold more than anything in my entire life (and trust me, I’ve been called a lot of things!). And if you’ve ever said it to my face, then you know my reply would’ve likely been, “That really is the highest compliment!”

It’s true. As dysfunctional as the Griswolds may seem, you have to admit Clark really is the last true family man. I believe through all the chaos, there’s a lot we can learn from ol’ Sparky. You may think I’m crazy, but there’s something about his heart that speaks to my soul. Something that makes me want to embody his love for family. And everyday, not just at Christmas. But maybe especially at Christmas.

So, needless to say, when Opal surprised the family with tickets to the 8:30 showing at our tiny theater in our small town tonight, I was sold! Nothing warms my heart more than a good ol’ Christmas movie this time of year. And nothing ever warms my heart more than spending quality time with my family!
