Smoky Mountain High School
So many emotions looking at this picture from Friday night’s homecoming football game.
First, this is our little Lucia being stunted by the varsity cheerleaders. Our 17–year-old senior, Olivia, is the cheerleader back spotting her, looking up at her, smiling at her. This brings back so many memories of when Olivia was the little girl attending cheer camps and dreaming of the day she would be a varsity cheerleader. And here we are.
This is also so special because there are six years between Olivia and Lucia. With this much of an age gap, there’s not always many things they have in common at the same time. But this, cheering, this brings them together!
And I always get emotional when I’m reminded of Smoky Mountain High School and its significance in our journey. When we first visited the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee in 2018, Brandon and Lucia would dream of the day we would move to the area and Lucia would graduate from “Smoky Mountain High School.” At the time, it was a made-up name for a school we didn’t even know existed. Turns out, a couple of years later, God led us right to it.
Not only did we not know at the time the school existed, we didn’t know this life existed. The truth is, if you can imagine it, you can achieve it, whether it’s cheering on a varsity team or simply living your life on your own terms. The life you dream of exists!
