At-Home Carnival

A carnival. As I drank my coffee Saturday morning, Brandon told me he and the kids were going to make a driveway carnival. Just for fun and because they wanted to.

A quick trip to the dollar store later, they were ready to set up. A couple of the kids’ friends from next door came over to help and were excited to learn there was going to be a carnival later that day. They all worked together to blow up balloons, set up tables, and to find things from around the house to make the games more fun.

In the end, they had a balloon dart game, ring toss, football toss, ladder ball, fish bowl toss, skee-ball, basketball, and face painting. They made up rules for each game to receive a prize. The kids put on music, had an announcer, and invited every kid in the neighborhood.

They played out there for hours. We could barely get them inside once it was getting dark. They won prizes and they cheered each other on!

On Saturday morning, Brandon said “yes” to what the kids wanted to do. Yes to fun, yes to working together, yes to creating a day we all will never forget!

Who knew a day at home could be so much fun!
