Candy Math
Candy Math. We are doing candy math.
When we moved into our house in this small historic town, we heard trick-or-treating was a big deal here. We had lived in neighborhoods before, so we thought we had seen our fair share of trick-or-treaters.
Thankfully, before our first Halloween here, we visited with the previous owners of the house who had lived here for 50 years. They shared their wisdom with us and told us, “Two pieces. Each kid gets two pieces of candy. One good one and one not as good.” We agreed, this was advice we should follow.
Last year, we estimated we had about 500 trick-or-treaters come to our door! It was great—we loved seeing every ghoul and goblin that came our way.
Getting ready for this many kids, following the two piece per kid rule, and sticking to our budget, this requires a bit of candy math. We know how many pieces per bag equates to how many cents per piece so we can find the best deal!
And so we’re ready. Ready for every Barbie and Bluey, ready to share in the fun, and ready to continue being a part of this beautiful community we call home!
And if you happen to be in the neighborhood, stop by, you’re guaranteed to get at least one small chocolate and a Smarties!
