The Power of Vision
I knew the life we had built did not align to our values or honor our dreams, but I could not, for the life of me, find a way out.
Aligning to Our Values
We knew we valued our faith, our family, and traveling. But when we looked at how we spent both our time and our money, those things were not at the top of the list
The Day That Changed My Life
There are some days that alter our life course, that change our trajectory, days that will forever hold a significance in our life.
The Truth About Core Truths
Looking back, I am more grateful than ever for the day I sat across from a life coach who dared to ask me, “What do you want to do?” and then “What are you going to do now?” These two questions have guided me out of my worst fears and my biggest excuses.
Weekend Getaway
When we finally started to dream again, we allowed ourselves to dream in every area of our lives—including what we wanted our marriage our to be.
Love Where You Live
The truth is, vacations and spending quality time together as a family are important. But coming home to a place that you’re excited to live and living a life that you don’t feel you need a vacation from is a dream come true!
Vacation Unbinded
This trip is different because we have let go. We have let go of planning “the perfect trip.” We have let go of making sure every minute is accounted for and, instead, letting every minute count. We have let go of planning fun things to do, and, instead, we are simply having fun.
Feels Like Vacation
We never dreaded a day, not even a Monday, when we were on vacation.
We wanted that life—a life we could live like we were on vacation.
Follow You Anywhere
And that’s when I would get most uncomfortable because I didn’t believe this vision actually existed—that it could ever be a reality. It’s like I didn’t believe people could have the life they truly wanted. I was full of fear and doubt and I didn’t want to talk about it.
For Years We Dreamed
Today, we count our blessings that we decided to put a stake in the ground, give ourselves permission to seek a life of freedom, and relentlessly pursue all we had ever dreamed of.
Expect the Unexpected
This is the part of the story where fear and worry could have started creeping in. But this is the part of the story where we put faith in front of fear and we moved forward anyway.
That Place Doesn't Exist
I didn’t believe that we could just set out to create a life and what we pictured could actually exist.
But, even though I couldn’t see it, I was willing to work towards it.
That Little Voice
What is your heart telling you to do? How worth it would you say it is to listen to that little voice inside you and take action to do what it says?
Lessons Taught
We hope our kids learn to find their purpose, and then live it. We hope they learn to listen to their hearts. We hope they learn to take risks, to be authentic, and to live life on their terms.
It's About the Journey
And isn’t that true about anything in life? You expect things to go a certain way, and it just doesn’t. You think you’ve made the right preparations, and you haven’t. You envision things going a certain way, but it goes another way instead.
Outward Signs of the Inward Changes
Dreaming again did come with its obstacles. We had to remove all of the “what-ifs” and “you can’ts” that continued to creep into our thoughts and plans.
Saying Yes
I wanted to say yes so many times. I remember thinking we have the time to do some of the things we wanted to do but we didn’t have the money. Or we’d have the money but not the time. It just never seemed to work out to where we had both.
Putting Lessons Learned to Good Use
Little by little, this was the beginning of us thinking more about time and less about money.
Move Mountains
Really, this is not a story about moving to the mountains. This is a story about having the faith that could move mountains.
